Progress Report: Giant Drag

NAME: Giant Drag
PROGRESS REPORT: Completing work on the Swan Song EP, recorded at Sunset Lodge Recording in Los Angeles; beginning work on untitled full-length album.

Nothing bums out Giant Drag mainwoman Annie Hardy. She hunts out the upsides everywhere--"You Fuck Like My Dad" excluded, maybe. Hardy's applying that same dark humor from her albums to her current condition. Right now the formidable frontwoman is stuck at home a lot with a lot of pain and "overall bummerness" that makes it hard to move. Hardy thought the aches were tour injuries, caused by loading and unloading equipment, but it didn't go away even after Giant Drag wrapped up their tour. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that can make you feel sore and aching all over. "Basically I'm in dull to gnarly pain all the time, and I'm supposed to be doing physical therapy three times a week but can't afford it," Hardy says. "But it's not terminal cancer so I try not to bitch about it too much."

With reports that music industry is loosing millions of dollars every year, thanks to illegal download and duplication, Ringtones are catching up. With young generation interested in personalizing their cell phone with variety of ringtones like Fight Ringtones, Animal sounds. Even hot artists like Beyonce are reported to making big bucks from ringtones.
On the other side of world, Animal sounds like Cows Mooing, Rooster Calls are used to draw stray leopards to capture them and later release them at safe distance in the forests. What a technology instead of using live baits. Simple eh!

Ecospheres PDF Print E-mail

Ok, Valentine's Day is over, and hence gift-giving for a while, but here is a cool idea should another occasion pop up, EcoSpheres.

Inside each EcoSphere are red shrimp and algae in a "self-sustaining ecosystem, you never have to feed. Simply provide the EcoSphere with a source of indirect natural or artificial light."

EcoSpheres have an average life expectancy of two years.

Open House: Would You Register For a Housewarming? PDF Print E-mail
Written by FunEditor
Sunday, 23 November 2008

In Philip Galanes's latest Social Q's column, a 32-year-old woman wrote in saying that she'd decided that marriage wasn't for her. However, since she'd been in eight weddings and had to contribute oodles of presents over the past decade, she wanted to register for gifts for her housewarming party.

Galanes advises,

But the difference between their weddings and baby showers and your housewarming scheme is that their sole intent was not to rack up gifts. Don’t get me wrong: a housewarming is a great idea, and you may nab some nice loot. No gift registry, though. The party should be for celebrating your new place with friends, not for telling them how to outfit your kitchen.

This situation reminds me of an episode of Sex and the City. Can you guess which one? Find out when you

Which Gadgets Have Been Replaced by Your Smartphone? PDF Print E-mail
Written by FunEditor
Wednesday, 19 November 2008

On Monday, Wired posted a comical story about five gadgets that have been killed by the cell phone, then yesterday amended the post to include even more gadgets that have been tossed aside for the convenience of all-in-one cell features.

This got me wondering if your cell phone has taken the place of your other gadgets? I know that my iPhone has inadvertently replaced several on this list, but there are a few I can't live without (hello, proper digital camera!). Has your smartphone replaced any of your other beloved gadgets?
