Tube trains transformed into sustainable spaces PDF Print E-mail
Written by FunEditor
Wednesday, 08 October 2008
tube_train_studios.jpgI'm a bit of a closet underground nerd, so I got quite excited when I saw that someone with some obvious architectual flair had created some artist spaces in London recently out of disused tube trains! This may not sound like anything new, but the way the trains have been kitted out is what's interesting: once 'gutted', the carriages get a complete makeover using sustainable materials. Energy is provided by carbon neutral resources, and there's even a roof-top garden.

Neko Case Unleashes Her Middle Cyclone Album Art PDF Print E-mail

thumbnail: Neko Case Unleashes Her Middle Cyclone Album Art

A.C. Newman is about to release his second solo album Get Guilty, which means it's just about time for fellow multi-tasking New Pornographer Neko Case to (try to) show (him) up with her own extracurricular record. Middle Cyclone is her first collection of new material in three years (following 2006's Fox Confessor Brings The Flood). She recorded the 15 songs -- originals plus covers of Sparks' "Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth" and "Don't Forget Me" by Harry Nilsson (which we witnessed live with some other new tracks) -- in Tucson, Brooklyn, Toronto, and Vermont. The instrumentation is Case backed by a five-piece band plus guest spots by M. Ward, Sarah Harmer, Garth Hudson and members of Los Lobos, Calexico, Lilys, Giant Sand, New Pornos, the Sadies, etc. The album cover, though, is Case by her lonesome, surfing her muscle car.

Written by FunEditor

Increasingly, musicians are trying to sell their songs via ringtones. With CD sales declining music industry needs phone carriers more than ever.
Even artists are using this route is British pop singer Natasha Beddingfield. She has signed up for Verizon VIP tour, following footsteps of Fergie who did same thing last year.

Verizon has said that mobile data has accounted for more than 20 percent of its total wireless revenue, an indication that mobile market is maturing

Green Giving: The International Rhino Foundation PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 31 March 2008

Today only 5 species of rhino exist in the world, and with only 17,500 animals in wild they are dwindling fast and could be completely extinct in as little as 10 years. The International Rhino Foundation is dedicated to preserving what's left of the world's rhino species through conservation and research, but the effort doesn't come cheap. You can help by adopting a rhino of your own -- $30 covers food, veterinary care, and upkeep of the habitat for one rhino for 2 days. Needless to say, lots of adoptive parents are needed!
